Louis 14th, France's Sun King loved Burgundy wine !
Back in the 17th century, the French King Louix XIV was advised by his doctor to only drink wine from the Côte de Nuits as it was better fopr his health than champagne.
And so the Côte de Nuits wines gained in popularity throughout the kingdom and consequently became more expensive !
