Copy of antique mosaic

Making a faithful copy of a detail from an ancient mosaic, using the same practices and materials as at the time, is essential for learning the basic rules of this artistic language. The method used: tesserae are laid directly onto a temporary air lime mortar. After a theoretical introduction and choice of one of the models on offer, tesserae-by-tesserae reproduction on crystal paper, preparation of the temporary mortar, choice of materials and cutting of the tesserae with a hammer. After drying, the mosaic is removed from the temporary support, the tesserae on the reverse side are cleaned and the final mortar is poured. Dimensions: 40 cm x 30 cm.
